POEMS
A poem can be funny, make you laugh and smile,
Maybe cheer someone up if only for a little while,
Or bring back memories to brighten a sad heart,
A funny poem in it’s own way can do it’s part.

A poem can tell a story the words just flowing free,
Tell about some stranger or a large happy family,
Explain of times together that could help someone grow
Closer to a loved one and so more happiness will show.

A poem can tell of nature, the pretty flowers in spring,
Or pure white snow, birds flying on multicoloured wing,
Tall trees and great rivers, or the roar of the mighty seas,
Anything the eye can see would a weary heart please.

A poem can be about creatures both large or very small
That wander the earth, the tiny shrew or giraffe so very tall,
Or tell of the beasts that roam the forests of the far north,
Each of these poems could to some one be of great worth.

A poem can bring with sweet words the spirit of God’s love,
Touch a soul when it’s needed the most, lead them up above,
Tell of the gentle strength that the power of God can bring,
Point out in a poem His great love shown in every little thing.

A poem can heal a broken heart, like a caring tender kiss,
Can through flowing beauty bring a moment of pure bliss,
Pour the balm of Gilead on a soul deep in hurt and pain,
And bring back to that face a loving smile once again.

Poems can do many things, that’s what poets are for,
Not just pretty meaningless words that simply pour
Cold and empty from a fruitless pen, helping no one,
But to cheer, heal, lift, help and hope some battle won.
