MORNING GLORY

Morning lit the long, lingering night with a hint of rose
As the first rays peeped shyly over the eastern hills,
As if reluctant to awake the world from its repose,
Slowly stars dim and the earth with new beauty fills.

The multi-coloured sky is radiant in fresh splendour
As the sun awaits her allotted time to show her face,
The clouds no longer gray, are bathed in grandeur
To greet the morning sun now quickening her pace.

The rainbow lake is now stabbed with rich gold,
For the sun has come to rule her short, precious day,
To rule in warmth and caring, dispersing night’s cold
With her healing rays, that is natures strength and stay

Linger longer raising sun so this beauty will not pass
Too fast for all to appreciate and so be specially blessed,
Look how the sleeping flowers and sweet, simple grass
Have heads uplifted, as if the sun came at their request.

Rise and shine to see the glory of the rising sun,
Rise and live a longer better day than days gone by,
Rise and see the multi-colours of a new day begun
As the sun awakes in glory. See a sunrise before you die.
