SONNET NO 9
        THE SUN WENT TO REST.

Walking by the lake, the sun went to rest,
The departing rays has so kindly blest
Us with beauty, the new moon, a bright arc
In the sky, rising ready to embark
On monthly course across night’s velvet skies,
We saw stars appear clear before our eyes.
The song birds had flown off to their warm nest,
The sun had slowly wandered to the west
Leaving such a peaceful calm in her wake,
We did not wish that magic spell to break.
Earth was bathed in beauty pure, sweet and bright,
Night came like a gentle, comforting arm,
Guarding the world from all fear and harm.
