WAITING FOR THE WEATHER
We are all waiting for good weather to come,
May is half over and still hardly any warm sun,
Five or six days of cool rain and dismal cloud
Covering the sun with its cold grey shroud.
Then everywhere is brightened by a day or two
When the lovely sun comes shining through,
Then the clouds come back more abundantly,
When, dear sun will you come and shine for me.
The bedding plants are all quietly complaining,
Their growth is slow because of all the raining,
The blossoms on the trees have gone to sleep,
Tight buds closed bowed branches that weep.
Other Mays have been delightfully sunny and bright,
Gardens always a carpet of flowers, a lovely sight,
Although the flowering bushes were very fine
For all the other beautiful flowers I quietly pine.
This week may be different and May beauty will show,
All the flowers and blossoms will start to at last grow.
Come on sun, fight your way through the cool rain,
So put the smile on every garden lovers face again.
