EARLY MORNING TREASURE
We were out early to wave our son farewell,
Of a vision of beauty we now can tell,
Between the branches of the naked trees
That gently swayed in the cold December breeze,
We saw the new moon resting upon Venus,
Such a magnificent view it gave to us.
The sun not yet awake in that cloudless sky,
That shining silver sight caught our eye,
Still above the house tops on her decent
From her nightly reign. Such a short time spent
In beauty, for December entered in loveliness
Our hearts and minds forever to bless.
