FAREWELL GIFT
Driving past Simonhouse Lake for the very last time,
The setting sun and lake gave us a farewell gift divine,
The almost still water reflected the boldly glittering sun
Of the richest gold, some great treasure has been won.
The colours painted on the many clouds that floated high
Enhanced the dying suns warm beauty in that vivid blue sky,
She set slowly in grace, with so many colours lingering on
As the world glowed with the shades left by the departing sun.
Awe struck, we stood and gazed at this wonderful farewell scene,
It even turned the tall trees a different shade of richer green,
What a farewell gift given to us on this precious, special day,
Even the loons called their goodbyes as we drove slowly away.
