NEED OF RAIN
The soil is hard and cracked, like some desert place,
The sun in unrelenting heat, merciless shows her face,
Even when the sun goes down it hardly cools at all,
Oh, that some sweet refreshing rain on us gently fall.
All the flowers are drooping, no longer look at the sun,
But bow each head to find shelter from another day begun,
Heat hazzard warnings are heard on the TV and radio,
Even the wind is hot and things are worse when it does blow.
Come rain and fall gently, or even in heavy torrents fall,
Come down and relieve the oppressive heat overcoming all.
But see, for miles around the sky is a perfect vivid bright blue,
No grey rain clouds, or large white thunder heads in our view.
Let us all pray hard for the rain to fall on our parched land,
Crops will fail, animals die as the grass turns into desert sand,
Rain is so badly needed before everything shrivels up and dies,
So come rain clouds, dance low across our bright blue skies.
Are those clouds rolling past without giving us a drop of rain?
We need those life giving drops to relieve the thrust and pain.
This hat humid weather has been with us for much too long,
Now listen to that sweet music, falling rain singing her song.
