        EATING TOO MUCH
Yesterday was our church picnic, a lovely sunny day,
Hot dogs, hamburgers, fresh pickerel came our way,
Along with all the tasty trimming all so good to eat,
To fit the good food on the plate was quite a feat.

We sat around and talked and laughed all together,
Cancelled twice before, now we had good weather,
The smell of the cooking food wafted everywhere,
I’m sure the neighbours could have been there.

If all those things weren’t enough there was dessert,
Carrot cake, cookies, Nanaimo bars, does that hurt?
Also rich tasty trifle too. Ice cream, shall I go on?
At least it’s not every week this feasting is done.

All ate our fill, diets and cholesterol worries forgotten,
To leave any of the good food would have been rotten,
So as not to waste anything we had to eat really well,
Now we will need to go onto strict diets for a spell.
