BRIDGE THAT GAP

I know of the things that I should do every day,
Knowledge is a wonderful thing in every way,
But, if we do not put thoughts into an action
That knowledge is just a flowery attraction.

Bridge that gap between knowing and doing,
Righteous actions and good deeds pursuing,
Eternal life needs more than the things we learn,
It takes a constant effort a heavenly home to earn.

I know I should keep the Sabbath day holy,
But it’s the only day I can get to see that movie,
God will understand, if just this once I stray,
After that I will stay on the straight and narrow way!

My friend is quite sick, but hospitals depress me so,
I don’t think it will matter if I don’t bother to go,
I’ll send a card and some flowers, that will do,
I’ll see him at home when he pulls through.

Are we valiant in our service to our fellow men?
Do we put the Lord first and others, and when
The time comes are we willing to sacrifice all,
Would we drop everything and follow the call?

Many goodly people will miss out in the end,
By not bridging the gap, and so slowly wend
A path that misses, for a little more effort and work,
The gate that leads to glory because they did shirk.

Please let us all bridge that gap and work with a will,
So press on steadfastly up the steepest, hardest hill,
We know of the truth our knowledge is ever strong,
Live by the things we know and we will never go wrong.
