LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT
As I look around and see what life doles out,
See the different reactions there is no doubt
That life is what you make it, happy or sad,
Or by the same deeds life is good or bad.
If you are thrown a curve ball, do you yell unfair?
Or swing at it sending it flying through the air?
You maybe called out when you were safely on base,
Do you argue or walk away with a smile on your face.
If misfortune comes and hits you hard below the belt,
All your savings lost, by a careless move that you felt
Was so sound and good, does weakening self-pity come?
You mope, or do you jump you and get more work done?
When illness strikes you with a cruel deathly blow,
It is easy to show anger and let your bitterness flow,
But if through those painful dying days you show
Love to others, guiding them in the better way to go.
Life is what you make it, so whatever happens live it well,
Otherwise dear friends, cheap our lives we will sell,
For every experience that comes our way each day
Can be turned to goodness along life’s thorny way.
