PRAYERS OF THE HEART
Sometimes when you kneel and pray
The right words don’t seem to come out,
You know what you want to say
And you are sincere without a doubt,
But you think your prayer was not enough
To express the great love that you feel,
Sing a hymn, even though the voice be gruff,
Your heart will sing along and you will heal.
Sing a joyful hymn, let the walls resound,
You will find great joy in this simple little thing,
To heaven up above it will be a perfect sound,
No flat notes, a sweet song your heart does sing.
You may cheer someone who is feeling low,
Help them find a tune buried in their own heart.
Or maybe even plant a seed of faith to grow
In some lost and lonely soul, play your part
By singing a tune they remembered when young.
A hymn is a prayer of the heart we are told,
Just be humble and mild, with a heart full of song,
That hymn may guide someone back to the fold.
