THEY CAME TO SEE ME HOME.
The old lady lay silent in the white bed,
She was still breathing, not for every long
As she struggled for life with drooped head
Her noble frame no longer tall and strong.
Oh, there is old Aunt Martha, Mama and Dad,
Little sister Jane who died in so much pain.
There is friend Florence, and I am so glad,
For there is my husband, to be with again.
Can I leave now please this mortal frame?
Can I join my friends and those I love,
To travel on to unknown lands to gain
More knowledge off the things above?
A smile swept across the sweet old face,
It took years away, added quiet beauty rare
To the weary soul who suffered in grace
So patiently, being tended with care
Come my child your work on earth is done
Suffer no more, join those youve loved and lost,
Greet each smiling face, for your battle is won,
You are the Lords because of his great cost.
Her weak hand stretched from her bed of pain
As she raised slightly forward with a sigh,
A whisper heard, so quiet, of her loved ones name
They are together now waiting for you up on high.
