A LULLABY OF A SICK CHILD.
Rest in deep and healing sleep little one.
Sleep soundly till the new day will come
With hope carried on the morning air,
Resting upon your burning face so fair.
Sleep sick child of mine, while I watch and pray
By your crib till the sun bright rays herald the day,
When you awake may your eyes be free from pain
And you will smile at me and feel well again.
Your tiny burning body needs some comforting rest,
Heal my precious baby, as you sleep on my breast.
If I could bear your pain, that is what I would do,
But I can be with you, all the long night through.
Sleep my little gift from a loving God above,
For you are in a home that is filled with love.
May Gods loving arms around us both entwine
For you are His child my dear, as well as mine.
