The other day a sweet smelling candle I did light,
The fragrance wafted ore the room, it cleansed the air
Of the stale smells of cooking and filled us with delight.
It was like being in a garden with fresh blossoms all around.
The fragrance seemed to tell us the candle really cared..
The light it gave was small as it cast shadows on the wall,
The flame flickered and danced as it burned slowly away,
Although it did not give off much light, it gave of its all.
That light shone with all its might, all through the night.
It seemed to lighten our hearts and turned frowns into a smiles.
Not only light and fragrance came forth from our friend,
But if you came real close to it you felt some tender warmth.
Once again it gave all it had, gave all its heat to the very end.
It seemed quite strange that a thing so small could give so much.
It seemed to send a message of warmth and brotherly love.
I think we can learn from this candle burning in the night,
Although small it never stopped giving till it burned away.
Can we not be like that candle, and let our light burn bright
All the days of our lives, so give joy to those in need of light.
For our little burning candle, lifted us when we were down.
Try to be like the candle, give the sweet fragrance of care,
Try to be like the candle, light up a smile from a frown,
Try to be like the candle, warm others with brotherly love,
Try to be like the candle, that lifted us when we were down.
