OLDER HANDS
Older hands are kind hands that feel and know
Just what children need so love to grow,
Know well how to tuck up in bed at night
And know exactly when to turn off the light.
Older hands are wise, know when to hold or let go,
And the right amount of hugs and kisses to bestow.
Know when to play games and have fun,
But also know when homework has to be done.
Older hands are fun hands, they tickle, make you grin,
And even find fun ways when life seems rather grim,
Fun at the park, fun at home and everywhere you go,
In fact older hands are the funnest hands that I know.
Older hands are loving hands, know how to show they care,
Have a special way of somehow always being there,
They are hands of comfort hands with a healing power,
Hands that will be there when needed every single hour.
These older hands are grandparents hands for you children dear,
Loving, kindly hands protecting you from harm and fear,
Hands that want you to know there is love to share,
That well be honest, true, strict and always be fair.
Grandparents hands and hearts showing you the way
Along the path of righteousness every single day,
Lead you and guide you with everlasting love,
Letting you know everyday day there is a heaven above.
