More poems about Raising Children

TAKES A VILLAGE
You cannot do it on your own,
        raising your family,
A very old African saying is told
        comes now to me,
It takes a village to rear a child
        not just mom and dad,
I think these words of wisdom are
some of the best I’ve had.
Stop and think who is needed to try
        and rear your child,
The teachers at the school who help
        stop them being wild,
Teach them, love them, show them
        knowledge and learning,
The spiritual leader that in them for
        goodness be yearning.
The doctor, nurse, family friends
        and neighbours too,
All help us rear our children, help
        them know what to do.
You may influence a child in some way
        either for good or bad,
As you help rear children help them be
        happy and not sad.
