WHO IS IN THE CORNER
“Who is in the corner by the chest of draws,
I’m sure it has long arms and great big claws,
It’s waiting to jump on me when I go to bed,
Mommy, can I sleep in your bed tonight instead?”

“Look there is nothing behind the chest of draws,
Nothing has long arms and great big ugly claws,”
“He’s snook now under the bed he’ll come out
In the night and get me mommy, without a doubt.”

“He’s there behind the curtain, see it moved a bit
At least dear parents let me keep my night light lit.”
Even after checking every hiding place he could be
The child seems afraid, wanted a parents warm knee.

Then big sister had an idea that would scare things away,
A paper monster of his own, there by him night and day,
It had great long arms, fanged teeth and great big claws,
Even if a monster was there it would stay behind the draws.

The big monster was hung with care on the back of the door,
It reached right from the top down to the carpeted floor,
It had big words written, LEAVE MY BOY ALONE,
A real good monster the young child could call his own.

Soon the fears faded but the monster always stayed
As a reminder that when there’s family no ones afraid,
A kindly act by a sister who understood a brothers fear,
Made a bond of friendship that would keep them ever near.
