        SITTING BY THE WINDOW
Sitting by the window watching the world go by
Is something that sounds odd and you may sigh,
When you get older and you need to rest awhile
And all the rushing around has gone out of style.

But a lot can be gained if this is sometimes done,
When wisdom is needed to be thought about and won,
Sitting watching can reveal quite a few good things
And there is some satisfaction that this often brings.

Seeing nature at it’s best or even being quite cruel,
Knowing that it’s survival in nature that is the rule,
Watch the children play in harmony in the park,
Wondering how much pain is in the rocks so stark.

I see the loons on the lake and want to join the dance
As they wave their wings and over the water prance,
Be part of rearing the chicks as they swim to and fro,
And wonder why when they fly where to they all go.

Time is not wasted as you watch the world go by,
As long as something is gained and you don’t just lie
Motionless or look without seeing a single little thing,
Go on for awhile what the world go by, let your heart sing.
