        AN OLD FASHIONED APRON
For Mothers day one child gave me a lovely apron,
For I always love aprons to wear, clean one to put on,
This gift is the old fashioned type with pretty lace
And it looks so nice and puts a smile on my face.

It has a bib and pockets and cross over back straps,
Little patches of lace in fact it perfect, nothing it lacks,
I know it will wash right and even iron really well,
Just by looking at it these simple facts you can tell.

Maybe I am old fashioned liking an apron to wear
When cooking and cleaning, doing things here and there,
But it came down through our family from my grandma
Who always wore her clean pinny so her dress not to mar.

She even went a stage further to hide a stain on her dress
Would cover with a clean pinny, and used to me confess
That it’s what people see that counts, always look clean,
So always cover up dirt stains so they will not be seen.
