I’D LOVE A LETTER
Thoughts given by an old lady in a nursing home
with family miles away.
I’d love to have a letter, a small note or
a pretty card,
Getting one to me would that be so
very hard?
We can no longer speak together on the good
old telephone,
That is not easy when your trapped in a
nursing home.
You said you would visit in a letter
months ago,
And every day I wait to see you for I love
you all so.
My life is so empty save for dead loved ones
that visit me,
Please just one letter or visit before from earth
I’m set free.
Was there a letter, did they come, she asked with a
last breath?
The nurse lied and said yes so she would not feel alone
in death.
