KITCHEN VENT
In the kitchen of my new home these’s a glorious thing,
No one will ever know how much warmth it does bring,
Right near the sink and working counter there’s a vent
On the floor, that I know for me, was just heaven sent.

Washing dishes on a cold and windy day and all is well
As the heat comes on and on real warmth my feet do dwell,
It warms my legs and I can work quite a long time you see
For it is the cold that slows me down but of chills I am free.

Making a cake or an apple pie I know just where to stand
For the hot air to warm me, and at my own sweet command
Can move a little one way if it gets just a little bit too hot,
Then return when I am ready to that lovely comfort spot.

I don’t think I have ever been blest with a vent that’s just right,
And even if we remodel the kitchen the vent will stay in sight
Right by sink and side so in cold weather the heat comes through
And I will not moan to wash or dry or cook a really nice meal for you.
