THE CLARINET
Many musical instruments can fill you with delight,
Make many different sounds and patterns in sight,
With the clarinet it can be an elf on a moon beam
Or a lover running home so he can sit and dream,
It can dance along the seashore with the wind blowing
Or sprint along a stream with the water fast flowing.
Can glide so soft and slowly along a lonely path ahead
And sing the gentlest lullaby to a sick child in bed.
In the mighty orchestra you can hear it coming through
Usually the first to carry a melody that is quite new.
But then it can change and it can dance and really swing.
Oh yes the clarinet is such a versatile instrument to bring
To any type of occasion if you are able to really play well
This small piece of wood, in a band or orchestra does dwell.
I have heard it sing a lullaby and almost felt the water run,
Counted the raindrops fall as the instrument has lots of fun
Being part of nature and then able to burst into jazz as well.
No wonder that composers have many different tales to tell.
