        THE JOURNEY TO EMMAUS
As I read the wonderful story of the walk along the way
To Emmaus, I wonder if I had been there on that great day
If I’d have known the Master before to my home He came,
I just wonder if the story would have still been the same.

Would He have stopped and supped with me that night
If I had recognized Him when He first came into sight?
What would we have talked about walking side by side,
I am sure my exquisite joy from Him I could not hide,

On the road to Emmaus if I had walked by His side,
Maybe He could from me His true identity easily hide
So He could learn what was in my heart and then stay
In my home awhile to break bread and sweetly pray.
