        JONQUIL
While I was sick I was given a little pot,
It contained some bulbs I was not sure what,
Now they are ready to bloom I am sure
Just in time for Christmas, a gift I adore.

I think they are jonquil, such a pretty flower
Bringing us spring in some leafy bower,
With their heads just beginning to show
The hints of white just about to glow.

I’ll place them next to the poinsettia so red
I know the sight will turn many a head,
Spring flowers when the wind bows cold
Is such a sight of joy to for all to behold.

When you come there will be spring in the air
As the jonquil bloom so delicate and so fair,
Thank you for the gift of spring on a cold day
As the flowers waft all sadness right away,
