More poems about Beauty Spots

        THROUGH THE COUNTRYSIDE
I love driving through farmland in September’s early days,
Feast my eye on the bounty growing through the morning haze,
Some crops already safely gathered in, others still growing well,
With all the stands of goodies their produce to cheaply sell.

Wheat and sweet corn, barley, fresh hay, flax, oats and rye,
Spread out there before us as we too quickly drive by,
Sunflowers and different vegetables far too many to name,
Not forgetting the juicy blueberries that are of great fame.

Seeing cows, sheep and horses in the pastures sweet and green,
A picture of pastoral beauty that forever should be seen,
Yet we seem to be letting suburbia be getting out of hand,
All covering far too much of the good and luscious land.

Rich loam soil full of goodness so all the crops grow well,
Made even richer as farmers rotate and rest for a spell,
Wisdom and hard work and God’s bounty of sun and rain
Make this part of the world in richness for ever to reign.
