        LOST MOMMY
“My mommy has lost me” a little girl said.
“I am getting hungry and need to be fed.
We must have parted when I saw Santa there,
By now I am sure she is pulling out her hair.”

Christmas music stopped in the big busy store,
We have a lost mother, a voice did implore,
We have little Becky, she is here safe and sound,
So we hope, Jane, her mom, will soon be found.

The peels of laughter rippled all over the place,
Mother came running with tears down her face,
There was no scolding but a hug full of caring,
Then happily again Christmas music began blaring.

“I have your present, I got while you were away,
But you cannot see it now but on Christmas day,”
The mother’s heart was still beating from fear
And just smiled and held the child quite near.

“Do you want to go away while daddy’s I buy
I will not be lost mommy so please don’t cry,
Or shall we stay together ours the secret not tell
You can help me choose, you know daddy so well.”

Mother held on tight as Christmas shopping was done,
They looked for gifts for daddy, grandparents, what fun,
The child seemed to show no sign of fear at being lost,
The mother quietly thought what the great loss would cost.

It would not be Christmas with their precious child missing,
No comfort however well meant would help with the healing,
A child lost is a fear that a child cannot quite understand,
So children, for your parents sake, hold onto a strong hand.
