ENLIGHTENMENT
Working in the temple is such a wonderful thing,
Today a great reality to me this service did bring.
For as a patron, an awareness came so plain to me
Of the bounteous blessings we have in this century.
Voices from nowhere it seems, for everyone to hear,
Scenes of earth and sky and many creatures so clear,
Flowers and trees so lovely it takes your breath away,
As well as the reverence felt in the temple each day.
Imagine living some six hundred years or so ago,
Then gaze in great wonder at this awesome show,
Fear that needs explaining, to calm a worried mind,
Telling her its not witchcraft but progression we find.
In the fourteen hundreds in England, who had seen a tiger,
Or a lion, elephant or giraffe? Try and imagine the mither
In a heart of one who had not wandered far from her home,
Then suddenly flung across galaxies or in loveliness roam?
This dear sister needed comfort, some tender loving care
To help her understand all the things she saw right there,
Hostility and fear, as minds melded, faded slowly away,
But many more questions in her busy mind still did stay.
We take so much for granted the modern things of today,
All the inventions that sends great knowledge our way,
These gifts were not known or dreamed of years ago,
So from now on for all good things my gratitude Ill show.
