MY FRIEND PHYLLIS’S GLASSES
I have a friend whose glasses keep running away,
Never in the places left to want there to stay,
Those determined glasses, pretty case and all,
Keep wandering all over the place if you call.
They will not come but hide till they want to be found,
And they could be anywhere quietly tucked away,
Or lying in view and in their splendour stay
I do not know what we can do with these glasses
To make them stay in the right place or watch their passes
To try and see how they do it, move from here to there,
And for my friends sanity sake I will be more aware
Of how those glasses in a case get up and walk around,
We’ll all think of a way to tie them to the ground,
So don’t worry Phyllis, I will sort that pair out
Both glasses and case will keep still without a doubt,
I found them hiding under the big pulpit today
And up to an hour ago from there they did not stray.
