         SONNET NO: 90 THE FOREST
A forest seen for miles, thick, green and deep,
Many trees at one quick, fast glance are seen.
With small lakes of shimmering blue that peep
And enhance the beauty of every scene.
What is hidden in the forest, that creep?
Creatures great and small, some timid, some mean,
Do some cry out in pain, silently weep?
An unseen world where they hunt, eat and scream.
Beast, bird and in pristine lakes fish dive deep
Still seen by hunters eyes through the waters sheen,
Beaver, birds of prey, who never do sleep
Live in a different world, cruel and keen.
So when driving and thick forest you see
Think of all the creatures that do run free.
