FAREWELL TO FRIENDS
You look forward to them coming for a week or two,
Then rush to the airport to see their faces shine through
The crowds of eager faces looking or a friend or relative,
Then the special moment when that long first hug you give.

Two weeks well planned to do many good things together,
Sightseeing all over, with nice cooperating, kind weather,
Laughter and chatter as everywhere we managed to go,
To old familiar places and others that we did not know.

We marveled in awe at the beauty that around us was spread,
As with fall’s great splendor we were all richly and well fed,
Four friends in love and harmony seeing many wonderful things,
From birds in the garden to the falls and the rainbows it brings.

The holiday we shared together was full of a great variety
Of things to do and view and an assortment of weather to see,
From warm skies of blue with fluffy clouds floating high,
To snow, sleet, hail, heavy rain and also lightening in the sky.

Sitting in the evening by a wood firelight’s cozy bright glow,
That way taking a breather before some other place we’d go,
There are still many other places in this fair land to be seen,
And when we invite them again the thought will keep them keen.

It was sad at the airport as we hugged to say each ‘Goodbye’
In fact a lump came to my throat and a tear came to my eye,
We are all getting older but I know we will be together again
As we wander around Canada and so some more beauty gain.
