Good fun and good music as usual. But as always, life never turns out exactly the way you plan. I arrived
downtown on Friday evening. Kristi, friends and I grabbed a bite an headed for the gig. Paloma's set was
fantastic, and the best I've heard yet. I've come to think of them as the real highlight of this tour. Coco's voice
sounds absolutely amazing. I feel like this is a project with potential for more than just a quick opening tour,
but we shall see. We saw Mike and snapped some photos, grabbed a drink then geared for the main set. Neil
was sick that night but incredibly, he seemed to channel every ounce of energy to overcome his illness. Neil was
ON! One Gun still gave me chills. It was great having the hometown crowd know how the Oceal Pearl deal goes.
The audience held onto the chorus for the entire time. As always, Vancouver is fun. The guys enjoy playing for
their friends, even if Phil got so caught up in his little side conversations to have forgotten a few words to Casual
Viewin'. Great show in all. I love the set list this tour. Can't seem to get Blue Sky out of my head.
Saturday was somewhat more complicated. After a valiant effort on the part of Sunbeam to get us in, we had to pass
on the second show. To credit, I must say Baby Ran sounded great from the back alley...
Must wait till another show comes around. At the end of the day, though, I may have been most dissapointed to
have missed what might have been Paloma's last show.
Cheers,
Mya (aka: The Jumping Bean)
