In the Assault there is a major idea that the author keeps repeating or restating in some way in the section. The idea that is constantly repeated in some way is that the Somalis are not very good warriors. All through this section you read something about Somalis not being able to shoot or fight very well.I think that this is true but they are still a major threat.
Even though the Somalis do not shoot well and are not able to kill an American soldier very easily they still seem to be a challenge for the American forces. A quote from the Assault says "The Somalis where a bad shot." I agree with this quote from the book, but I also know that there are so many armed Somalis shooting around that you have to watch yourself or you will get shot. It would probably be easier to be a good warrior if you did shoot well. The Somalis didn't train to be good warriors.
Another quote from the Assault says "We will attack them at night when they are high." I do not understand why the Somalis would sit around and get high in the middle of a war zone. I do not see how they are able to fight when they are high on whatever they are smoking. They couldn't shoot to save there own life before they where high. They would shoot even worse when they are high.
The Author keeps mentioning something about the Somalis inability to fight well. With all the information that is given I believe that one single Somali might not be a good warrior. When I think about where all of the fighting was going on I realize that the danger is not the capability of one Somali, but the capability of the thousands of Somalis combined.
One piece of information that I got from the end of Black Hawk Down the movie says that nineteen American soldiers where killed and over one thousand Somalis where killed. I can definently agree with the author that the Somalis are not very good warriors.
