What is AFNA?

Assam Foundation of North America, Inc. (AFNA) is a publicly supported Non-Profit, Charitable Organization with foundation status, serving since 1982, with tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Services of USA. The sole purpose of AFNA is to help charitable causes in Assam, India and in North America.

AFNA is an association of concerned individuals in North America who believe that the indigenous cultures of India's beleaguered Assam region constitute a unique human heritage that must be preserved and enriched. AFNA's focus is on the humanitarian, creative and universal aspects of Assam's special situation.

What AFNA Does?

  • Patronize academic and cultural exchanges between Assam and North America.
  • Sponsor cultural programs emphasizing Assam's ethnic identity in North America
  • Promote a closer relationship between individuals and families with an abiding interest in Assam and North America.
  • Provide financial and material support to deserving philanthropic activities in Assam and North America.
  • Award Financial Assistance through recognized institutions to meritorious individuals, especially on subjects of immediate interest to Assam.
  • Channel humanitarian assistance through established charities for indigents such as orphans and flood-victims in Assam.
  • Distribute text books, technical journals and educational equipments to schools, colleges and other institutions of learning in Assam.
  • Cooperate with other organizations concerned about the survival of Assam's unique flora, fauna and human diversity.

    Who Finances AFNA?

  • AFNA is funded solely out of membership dues, donations and grants from the general public.
  • AFNA is a nonprofit organization with no political or religious affiliation. It is not affiliated to any other organization.
  • AFNA neither seeks nor receives government financial aid in India, U.S.A. or elsewhere.

    How will AFNA benefit you?
