Synopsis:
Harry's illness drives Norman Osborn off the edge, and he resumes his Green Goblin persona. Blaming Peter Parker for his son's illness, the Green Goblin kidnaps Gwen Stacy and holds her hostage. Spidey tries to come to her rescue, but unfortunately she's killed and Spidey blames himself.

The Goblin barely escapes from an enraged Spidey. Spidey tracks the Goblin down and finds him in an abandoned warehouse. They battle for the last time and the Goblin is killed by his own Goblin flyer.

Synopsis:

The body of Osborn is found without the Green Goblin costume and Spidey is believed to be responsible. Gwen is laid to rest. JJJ hires Luke Cage to bring in Spidey. Power Man and Spidey go head-to-head and Spidey comes out on top. He convinces Power Man to renege on his deal with JJJ.

Synopsis:
Spidey, still distraught over Gwen's death, grows frustrated with Jameson's anti-Spider-Man campaign and makes his way to the Daily Bugle to confront him. Fortunately for Jameson, Spidey prevents the Man-Wolf from getting his claws into him. Spidey drives off the Man-Wolf but not before Jameson realizes that the Man-Wolf is his son, John Jameson.

Synopsis:
The Man-Wolf finds Spidey and attacks but has to withdraw as the Moon sets. J. Jonah Jameson confronts his son who tells him about the moonstone and how it transforms him. John Jameson becomes the Man-Wolf again and attacks his fiancee. Fortunately, Spidey drops in and manages to tear off the moonstone which reverses the transformation. Spidey throws it into the Hudson river.

Amazing Spider-Man # 126: "The Kangaroo Bounces Back!"

Synopsis:
Spidey is approached by a car company interested in having him advertise their new non-polluting engine. The Kangaroo attacks Spider-Man but has to withdraw because he doubled crossed Dr. Harrow who gave him his new powers. Spidey then meets up with the Human Torch and start planning how to build the Spider-Mobile. The Kangaroo tries to steal a radioactive isotope for Dr. Harrow and despite Spidey's warnings, he's killed by radiation.

  • The Kangaroo last appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #81.
  • Ross Andru becomes the new regular penciller.

Amazing Spider-Man # 127: "The Dark Wings of Death!"

Synopsis:
Peter learns that Mary Jane witnessed a murder and is too afraid to tell the authorities. He quickly learns why when the Vulture attacks him and he barely survives. The Vulture then kidnaps Mary Jane and fortunately Spidey comes to her rescue. The Vulture then takes Spidey high into the sky and drops him.

Synopsis:
Spidey survives the deadly drop by the Vulture. Peter finally helps convince Mary Jane that she has to testify against the Vulture. However, the Vulture strikes again and tires to unsuccessfully deal with Mary Jane. Spidey catches up with the Vulture and learns that he's not really the Vulture but rather a professor at his university who mutated himself to pose as the Vulture. 


Amazing Spider-Man # 129: "The Punisher Strikes Twice!"

Synopsis:
The Jackal encourages the Punisher into hunting down Spider-Man believing that he's responsible for Norman Osborne's death. Spidey survives the Punisher's first attack and tries to track him down by tracing one of his weapons. The Punisher walks out on the Jackal terminating their friendship. Spidey encounters the Punisher again, but this time convinces him that he's being used by the Jackal.

Spidey meets up with the Torch who has finally finished the Spider-Mobile and he takes it for a spin. Spidey tries to break up a robbery, but gets a beating when Hammerhead shows up. Peter then learns that Aunt May is about to marry Doctor Octopus!
