Synopsis:
Captain Stacy is laid to rest, and Gwen, who blames Spidey, decides to give her support to District Attorney candidate Sam Bullit. Bullit, working with JJJ and the Daily Bugle, begins an anti-Spidey campaign. Bullit's men even shake down Parker for Spidey whereabouts. Spider returns to his apartment to find Bullit and Gwen waiting for him.

Synopsis:
Spidey grabs Gwen hoping to convince her that Peter Parker isn't Spider-Man. Ice Man notices the abduction and drives off Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Robbie Robertson has uncovered incriminating evidence about Bullit's campaign for district attorney, which prompts Bullit to order his men to pick up Robbie. Spidey runs into Ice Man again, but this time's he's able to convince him that he's not a criminal and together they rescue Robbie and bring a sudden end to Bullit's campaign.

Amazing Spider-Man # 93: "The Lady and the Prowler"

Synopsis:
Hearing about Captain Stacy's death, Hobie Brown dons his Prowler costume and sets out to bring Spidey to justice. The Prowler meets up with Spidey and Spidey's unable to convince him that he's innocent. During their fight, the Prowler is injured and Spidey rushes him to the hospital. Spidey then heads out to meet up with Gwen, but learns that she's on a plane to England to visit her relatives.



March 1971
Amazing Spider-Man # 94: "On Wings of Death!"

Synopsis:
Peter ponders Gwen's departure for England and recalls the events that made him into Spider-Man. Meanwhile, the Beetle has launched a new crime spree and has taken Aunt May as a hostage. Spidey catches up with the Beetle and rescues Aunt May. He finishes off the Beetle and leaves him for the authorities.



April 1971
Amazing Spider-Man # 95: "Trap For A Terrorist!"

Synopsis:
While J. Jonah Jameson's out of the office, Robbie Robertson approves send Peter to England to meet up with Gwen. Unfortunately, terrorist strike once the plane has landed and kidnap an American delegate. Spidey tracks down the terrorist and then rescues the delegate. The rescue by Spider-Man has caught the media attention and since Peter's concerned that meeting up with Gwen would cause her to suspect that he's Spider-Man, he's forced to return home without seeing her.

Synopsis:
Peter returns to New York and finally decides to accept a job with Osborn Chemicals. Spidey rescues a stoned kid who thought he could fly. Peter and Harry, along with his father Norman, attempt Mary Jane's musical debut. Norman's departure sets off Peter's spider sense and he follows him only to discover the Green Goblin!

The Green Goblin and Spidey battle it out until Spidey is forced to withdraw. Later, he meets up with his roommate Harry, who has been dumped by Mary Jane, tries to deal with his problems with drugs. Spidey hunts for the Green Goblin but can't find him. He returns to the apartment and finds the Green Goblin lurking.

Amazing Spider-Man # 98: "The Goblin's Last Gasp!"

Synopsis:
Peter manages to drive off the Goblin by confronting him with his drug-overdosed son, Harry. Peter gets him to the hospital and comes across Harry's dope dealers and his thugs. Peter teaches them a lesson and then as Spidey sets out in search of the Goblin. He finds him and is attacked with a gas that strips him of his wall-crawling abilities. Spidey forces the Goblin to the hospital where he sees his hospitalized son and reverts back to Norman Osborn, with no memories of recent events of course. Gwen returns from England and gives Peter a wonderful happy ending!

Amazing Spider-Man # 99: "A Day in the Life of ..."

Synopsis:
With Gwen back in town and their future looking bright, Peter storms into JJJ's office demanding a staff position. JJJ is forced to agree and sends Peter off to cover a prison riot. Spidey brings the riot to an end and the warden promises to address the prisoners' concerns. Spidey is even invited to do a TV spot and takes some of his air time to bring up their prisoners' concerns. Unfortunately, the TV is interrupted by the police, who have a warrant for Spidey's arrest due to Captain Stacy's death, which forces Spidey to make an exit.



September 1971
Amazing Spider-Man # 100: "The Spider or the Man?"

Synopsis:
Peter decides to give up being Spider-Man for Gwen Stacey. He develops a formula he hopes will permanently remove his spider powers. He drinks the formula and experiences a series of haunting hallucinations in which he battles his deadliest foes. Peter returns to consciousness and realizes to his horror that the formula has backfired and generated two extra sets of arms making him more of a spider-monster than a man.
