Intro to Discourse Anaylsis for ASL Class
IUPUI will be offering a three-credit undergraduate course "Intro to Discourse Anaylsis for ASL" this summer, taught in ASL by Julie Armstrong, MA, CI/CT on Mondays from 5 to 9 pm.  It will start on May 16 until July 18 (no class on May 30 and July 4) and will be held at VU.  The course will discuss how cohesion is marked in ASL, constructed action/dialogue, turn-taking, etc. This course could meet your ASLTA, RID and NAD requirements and maybe your Indiana teaching certification.  The course may be converted to CEU's  if you submit a copy of your transcript. Check with Deka Oliver at Deka.Oliver@fssa.in.gov
You will need to apply http://www.enroll.iupui.edu/visiting.shtml for IUPUI visiting students. If any questions, contact Vera Masters at vlm0929@aol.com.  The enrollment will be limited.

Answers: Riddles for you...
1. The mother and boy. Pitting the 2 winning teams against the 2 losing teams (boy + boy + girl + mother versus father + boy + girl + girl) will obviously result in a win for boy + boy + girl + Mother over father + boy + girl + girl. Take a girl and boy away from each side, and boy + mother must still beat father + girl. PHEW!!!!
2. 2.1 pounds. The 'whole crab' must weigh 0.6 pounds, and the 'half crab' 0.9 pounds, totaling 1 1/2 pounds. If the former were halved and the latter doubled, the weights would then be 0.3 and 1.8 pounds, totaling 2.1 pounds.
Quotations on Freedom
When freedom does not have a purpose, when it does not wish to know anything about the rule of law engraved in the hearts of men and women, when it does not listen to the voice of conscience, it turns against humanity and society. --Pope John Paul II (1920-2005)
