ISD Boys Basketball Team Good Record for this Season
The 2004-05 Indiana "Deaf Hoosiers" Basketball season featured a talented of the best teams in ISD history with six seniors who have contributed so much to our program's success in their high school career and concluded with a winning season at 15 wins and 7 losses, our highest since 1987's 17-5. Playing in our 5th and 6th championship games in the past three years, we finally broke the hump on the camel's back to win the prestigious Central School States of the Deaf (CSSD) Championship at Illinois Deaf School for first time since 1991 and won our 2nd straight Clerc Classic Championship at Maryland Deaf School. Also, we are undefeated against deaf schools. With playing the toughest schedule the school ever played and winning 15 games that proved to be a major accomplishment. The boys' ability of playing ball has brought our school to become one of the top contender teams in the Indianapolis. In spite our losses to #5, #10, #13, #19 ,#38 class (1A) and #20 class (3A) teams in the state, we could easily finish with the record of 21-1 if not for our schedule against top Indiana basketball teams. There are a total of 133 class (1A) schools in Indiana. We also won our homecoming game against Illinois. We defeated Howe, a 3A program, by 9 points in one of our best games of the season. Howe then lost to Arlington HS (99-73), ranked #2 in the USA Today poll, only 3 days later at home.
It is amazing how so many schools from Indiana that we played against this year are true Hoosiers! As a coach I have never seen so many opponents with a strong reputation. More coaches than ever have scouted our team and requested copies of our game videotapes.
Many of our boys have attended Gallaudet University Camp, Pudue University Camp, Blue Chip in entucky, weekly Open Gym at ISD, played in the AAU - 60 plus games, summer League at Field House in Fishers, IN. (20 games), HS local 3 games tournament, several local hearing HS scrimmages (1A -University, 3A - Howe, and 3A - Roncalli), and Fall League (12 games) at Arlington HS (#2 Team in recent USA Today poll). As a head coach, this is my first ever I have done a lot this for our team and paid off. The team improved so much with the commitment that the players and I made.  Â
Again, thanks to our seniors; Bradley Pollard, Clayton Anderson, Jon Mowl, Lucas VanDalen, Marcus Terry and Stanley Mangold for the great year! --Keith Westhoelter, ISD Varsity Basketball Coach
Way to go, Deaf Hoosiers!!!

There are only four words in the English language which end in "dous":

There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order:Â "abstemious" and "facetious."

Riddles for you...
1. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. What letter is missing throughout?
2. What are the only moving National Monuments in the U. S.? For answers, see below

Famous Quotation by Albert Einstein
The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity.
Albert Einstein US (German-born) physicist (1879 - 1955)
