2/3-- ISD 85 White's Institute 76
Indiana defeated our state sister school, White's Institute behind Jon Mowl's 26 pts and Lucas Van Dalen's 16. Marcus Terry had 13, along with freshman Colin Whited's 11 off the bench. Our record is now 12 and 3
2/5-- The Deaf Hoosiers defeated Illinois, 74-69 in a re-match of last Saturday's CSSD Championship game during our Homecoming festivities.
The game itself was very exciting, with the Deaf Hoosiers roaring to a 25-6 1st quarter lead behind Jon Mowl's 13 points (3 3-pointers). The 2nd half saw Illinois' Lacedrix Brown scoring at will to bring his Tigers into the game. He has 14 points in the 2nd quarter.
Leading 39-29 at the half, Indiana came out on fire, but so was Illinois, who out-scored the Deaf Hoosiers 19-13 in the 3rd but Indiana kept their lead going into the 4th, 52-48.
In the 4th quarter, senior captain and forward Lucas Van Dalen took over the game, scoring 11 and blocking Brown twice in crucial moments (similiar to the end of the 4th Q a week ago). His leadership was exlempary for all the Deaf Hoosiers.
Van Dalen finished with 23 points, with Jon Mowl providing 20. Super Sub 6'5 swingman Sam Davis chipped in 16, including the free-throws that kept us ahead for good with 3.5 seconds, 74-69. Lacedrix Brown was
phenomenal with 23 points, 12 rebounds and several blocks. The Tigers of Illinois are to be commended!
Currently 13-3 with Howe coming up Wednesday. Howe has a 6-8 sophomore center averaging 28 ppg and 15 rebounds. We defeated them last year 91-81 in one of ISD's best games of the season.
ISD Boys BB to Play at Conseco Fieldhouse on 2/24
