China's Ministry of Public Security is getting into the Internet filtering software business, and unlike the situation in the United States, there will be no fretting about stepping on anyone's First Amendment rights to free speech.
The new software, dubbed Internet Police 110, will not only block Web surfers from viewing offensive pornographic and violent online content -- a not uncommon practice throughout the Internet world -- but will also steer Internet uers away from sites the government views as threatening to the Chinese Communist Party regime. ...
