ALP, Inc. Sorry, but I didn't keep Jason's scans. Also I need the SoS filing numbers for both entities. The exact names, filing numbers, and officers can be had at the Secretary of State's campaign finance website. Go to http://www.sosaz.com/scripts/cfs_committee2000.cgi
SCROLL DOWN to the "Committee Search" section (NOT the "Committee ID lookup". This is confusing but the ID lookup assumes you already know the ID.).
In the "Committee Name" field just enter "Libertarian" and click "Start Search".
If you're willing to just take my word for it: ALP = "AZ Libertarian Party", Filer ID 1117. ALP, Inc. = "AZ Libertarian Party State Committee", Filer ID 2042.

If there's any chance I would be opening a can-o-worms and causing any problems at all for ALP, forget it. I'm not a lawyer and I'm not an ALP insider; I am not cognizant of all the implications or repercussions that might occur if I were to push the point and force the SoS to register me with Inc. I'd like to hear someone speaking on behalf of the ALP leadership on this say that it's safe to do, or I will not try it. I'll be at the convention (bunking with my debating opponent, Jason!) so we can talk about it then, if I haven't heard anything before then.Fair enough...the person who suggested it to me was Paul Schauble. Perhaps he is willing to comment?

the "experiment" results are in, I'm submitting a new registration form to disassociate myself from Inc. (Then I will take a long, hot shower.)The experiment does not require staying registered with ALP, Inc. any longer than it takes to receive a voter registration card. However, if it turns out that you CAN register for ALP, Inc. some people may decide to adopt a new strategy to get rid of them... :-)

spelling out, specifically, that I wish to register with Inc., and that this should not be confused with the similar-sounding ALP, etc. (Hence my need for full, proper names and filing numbers for both parties.) >

perhaps a more valid result. This is good, although the "full, proper name and filing number" of ALP, Inc. were specified on the form I submitted. I (narrowly) decided against including a similar "cover letter" with mine because the idea was to see what the state would do with just the form required by the voter registration process. Now that we know what happened in that case, it will be interesting to see what they do when you try to hold their hand and spell everything out in a cover letter.
