SB 1297 was vetoed! However, its provision allowing community colleges to
ban firearms has shown us that the legislature understands preemption to
apply to these colleges. If this was a gray area before it isn't now.
I sent an e-mail to the Maricopa County Community College District's Legal
Services Department, stating the facts and inquiring if the 1994 policy has
been updated to reflect changes in state law.
