Apparently "O" only responded to the comparison of gilligan and Mary Ann vis a vie me, instead of Mary Ann having to explaining what the government is doing to poor confused gilligan and all of the other confused souls who don't get the insanity of government.

I have been thinking of dressing this up and reposting it, with the subtitle of "when is a government user fee not a user fee but a second takings"

Note also that the largest "user fee" is 200$ per employee for "allowing" work at home. Just image what this would do for/to a mother earning a little extra while taking care of small kids. What a about a mother who works only part time making maybe 600$ for a church function or maybe to send her kids each year to summer camp? What would happen to the employer's profit margin with an additional 200$ cost when many of the employees are part timers? Would the employer take it out of the employee's pay in a lump sum once a year? What would that do to the employee's effective wage rate? Would that be legal? What would the employer's incentive to have this work accomodation, if e could not recoup this cost?

There has been a lot of talk about the government running with "user fees". I think "Mary Ann" is needed to xplain some of the double talk of the government.

I have also been thinking of digging thru my archives for the rest of the "dialogs between gilligan and Mary Ann" to repost.

Let me know what you think.

an old post.... look at the signature portion Area: LIBERTY Msg#: 6 Date: 17 Jul 95 03:49:13 From: Bob Hunt To: Libernet Subj: Mo great service/less tax???? Please repost: In order maintain great service, with less taxes, the US Dept of Labor is planning on implementing "user fees". Whereas the minimum wage laws and other labor restrictions, provide a vital, necessary, and good service to society by preventing employment; Whereas employment is "good", te US Dept of Labor issues certificates of exemptions to their own laws; Whereas these certificates are a valuable service to employers, allowing them to hire employees that they desire, that would otherwise be illegal; Whereas the US Dept of Labor spends amost as much money proccessing the paper work for these certificates and their annual renewals; the US Dept of Labor is going to start charging user fees for these certificates: 14$ per MSPA certificate allowing the hiring of "Migrant and Seasonal farm workers 110$ per section 14 certificate except for the handicapped certificates, allowing for the hiring of workers at below minimum wage for various reasons, such as full time student, training where industries are shut down, etc. 200$ per home work certificate, allowing for the hiring of workers to do work from the employees homes (this is primarily mothers with dependent chldren in NH and Vermont who do knitting of hats, scarfs, blankets, etc; which the US Dept of Labor has done a valiant job of trying to abolish) (back under Bush there was a failed attempt to include independent computer programmers under this category, in order to drive out this dangerous independent streak in the computer software profession) Hopefully if other independent workers can be driven away, attention can again be returned to dangerous independent computer programers. bob hunt as explained to gilligan by Mary Ann Please repost
