The short answer to your query is that the facility isn't costing Phoenix taxpayers a time. The space has been donated and the utilities, etc., are paid through contributions offered to Law Enforcement Ministries Inc. Maybe my story should have made that clearer. Thanks for taking the time to write. I realy appreciate the feedback. Brent Whiting

this article was in the wed june 6 edition of the arizona republic.
it was on page 5 of the CENTRAL PHOENIX section which is a regional section that only goes to the central areas of phoenix. so those of you in scottsdale, tempe, mesa, glendale, deer valley probably didn't get the article in your copy of the arizona republic.
my question is how much government money is going into operating this church for cops? while both the fedral and arizona constitions prohibit mixing here we have the city of phoenix mixing goverment and religion at this church as well as at the city of phoenix church at sky harbor airport.
the church is in
maryvale terrace shopping center
5018 w indian school
phoenix, az
it contains 9 rooms which includes a chapel, and kitchen.
it has a keypad entry system so officers can get in 24 hours. does this mean cops can stop and pray while on tax payer paid work time?
i guess they can because later on in the report it says officers get away from the stress of the street and stop at the chapel to write reports or eat lunch. officers can use the support center ... if they take a little rest. i assume while being paid with our tax monies.
also is the city of phoenix using taxpayer money to publicize the chruch and to give out the secret code to get into the church thru the keypad entry system?
the church is run by
minister john south
of
law enforcement ministeries inc
it says the church isnt restricted to phoenix cops but officers throughout the valley as well as federal cops can use it.

the only good news is that all of the church was not paid for with tax payer money. home builder john f long built the center in 1955 (sic) and in march 1995 allowed it to be used as a government chruch for cops.
and i have a question why are cops so special they rate a goverment chruch. dont garbage collecters, mailmen, dog catchers, and tax collectors also deserve a monastery where they can take a break and pray while at work at the tax payer expense?
