GUN SAFETY FORUM SCHEDULED
Major National Experts to Attend in Phoenix on April 21, 2001
Contact: Felicity Bower 602-996-4020
Responding to the growing attacks on the fundamental civil right to arms
and self defense, a group of concerned citizens has organized the 2001 Arizona Gun Safety Forum, from 1?5 p.m. on April 21, at the Burton Barr Library, 1221 N. Central in Poenix. Designed to educate the public on the safe and beneficial uses of arms, and to help dispel bigotry fueled by high-profile publicity of heinous crimes, a packed house is anticipated for this major civil rights conference.
Renowned author and Second Amendment Foundation founder, Alan Gottlieb, headlines the event. Leading a panel of medical experts is Dr. Timothy Wheeler, Director of Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership. Rounding out the panels are law-enforcement officials from the Arizona Dept. of Public Safety, local police departments and other experts in personal-safety issues.
Charles Goyette of KFYI is the emcee.
According to Alan Korwin, head of Phoenix-based GunLaws.com and one of the forum organizers, the gathering is a followup to a forum last October which downplayed the civil right to keep and bear arms, and promoted an inaccurate view of the benefits society enjoys from an armed
populace. Major scholarly studies now confirm that millions of crimes are prevented annually by privatel owned firearms. This is rarely portrayed in mass media, which focuses nearly exclusively on isolated or
drug-war-based criminal activity, Korwin says.
Complimentary admission to the event may be arranged by calling 602-808-1283, or by sending email to bfenger@earthlink.net. Several books and an extensive literature packet, refreshments, and a happy hour
gathering afterwards are planned for attendees.
Seating is limited. Reserve your space now.
