MCLP Notes The E-mail Newsletter of the Maricopa County Libertarian Party. February 24th, 2001

E-mail address: MCLPXCOM@AOL.COM Discussion list, send blank e-mail to: AZLP-MARICOPA-SUBSCRIBE@EGROUPS.COM Party headquarters is located at 4208 West State Avenue (third street north of Glendale Ave). Meetings are each Tuesday night from 7 p.m. until close of business.

1) OFFICE HOURS REPORTS:

January 30th; Attendance - 11 Most of the discussion focused on Ernie Hancock's initiative in Glendale. Tim agreed to pick up the initiative packet from City Hall. Dave Chase and Jeff Daniels from the 'other' MCLP attended. Bob Anderson reiterated his $1,000 matching-funds pledge for voter registrations. Matching pledges were made by Powell Gammill - $300, Liz & Eric Andreasen - $100, Ernie Hancock - $100, and Tim & Linda McDermott - $100. The registration drive is now funded to $1,200.

February 6th; Attendance - 8 plus 5 As in the Cactus League, this was a 'split-squad' meeting. First Vice-chair Ricky Duncan led the meeting at headquarters, while Chair Tim McDermott attended the 'other' MCLP meeting at the IHOP at 19th Ave and Bell. At that meeting, we discussed combining efforts for ballot status for Maricopa County and a unified set of bylaws. At our meeting, further plans were made for the Glendale initiative.

February 13th; Attendance - 15 A round table discussion of the Glendale initiative produced a first draft of Ernie's initiative to require the City to count all votes manually. Tim McDermott announced a rewrite would be made of the County bylaws, necessitated by the court decision on ballot status and the creation of precinct committees. Jason Auvenshine pledged by e-mail $100 to the county ballot drive, bringing funding for the drive to $1,400. We are still looking to resume our monthly dinner meeting in April. It will be an outreach-type meeting, with minimal business. The best spot scoped out so far is the new Carrow's on 7th Street at Missouri. We are still looking to firm up terms, and we are still looking at some other spots.

February 20th; Attendance - 18 The Glendale initiative is to be filed on Friday, Feb. 23rd. Final draft was circulated and approved. Discussion held on the outreach meeting. We decided on agenda for the first six meetings. Paul Schauble reminded everyone that Maricopa County Libertarians have their own discussion group.
