At 07:34 AM 7/19/00, Bernie Oliver said something to the effect of: >P.S.: Did ya ever notice that those of us that are willing to stand up to
>defend our rights are criticized by other when we get shafted? They have
>no
>problem reaping the benefits of our sacrifices when we win though.

It's amazing that people who are fighting against tyranny (presumably why they're on this list) will then turn around and, with a condescending attitude, tell people to roll over and take it. How many flame wars have erupted on this list because people think we should just acquiesce to one bad law or another. Look at the mess we have with 2095 because people gave up on fighting for what's right and were willing to accept the government's continued need to control things.

The whining I'd like to see stop is the people who keep preaching compromise, or who are hypocrites like the ACLU. Defend one right but compromise another. The so-called conservatives who like the second but hate the first. The second is to be protected but the right to travel is just a privilege.
