State Committeemen are elected by Precinct Committeemen in each County. Precinct Committeemen are elected by the Libertarians residing in each individual voting precinct. Currently only Maricopa and Pima counties have qualified under the election laws to elect precinct committeemen. This represents more than 90% of the Libertarians in the State of Arizona. State party Chairman Peter Schmerl has committed to bringing as many counties as possible into qualifying status by November 1, 2001. This is the deadline for electing precinct committeemen in the 2002 primary election.
