Our forefathers were courageous men, who did something that others should have done long before. And they did need a gun.

The Nazis used guns, explosives, gas, ovens and torture on innocent people. The Jews needed a gun...unfortunately they didn't have any because the German government had already taken them from them.
As I have stated to you before, firearms don't belong in public parks. period.
Then I suggest that you write your letters to the criminals that take them into the parks for criminal purpose. Apparently they aren't quite as idealistic as you. The rest of us have to live in reality. The reality is criminals don't care that murder, rape and assault are illegal.
I would suggest that you envision the following scenario:
Your in the park with your family, if you have one. Three unsavory criminals take a vote and decide that they've taken a liking to your wife and daughter. They've decided that they are going to abduct them, rape them and kill them. It's not a novel concept... it's been done numerous times before.
Now, you can explain to them that guns don't belong in parks and neither do they. For your wife and aughter's sake I hope someone with a firearm will be there to protect them. Please don't think the police will. The criminals would be long gone before the police answer the 911 call. There aren't a lot of phones at the park.
Unfortunately those of your mindset live in a fantasy world that actually thinks that you can legislate morality and decency. The rest of us live in the real world where people die because there are those like you that believe in utopia have striven to deny us the Right to defend ourselves.
There have been many like you that have unexpectedly became victims and suddenly realized the folly of their naive thinking. For the rest of us, we don't care to wait for a tragedy to bring us to our senses.
Ah, but what if an armed citizen accidentally shoots an innocent person? We have a much better record of not hitting an innocent person than the police do.
