US West is going the way of the dinosaur. They said that the 248-8425 number has a billing address in Tucson. To move or even get another number with the word Libertarian in it puts us in the catigory of "political" with all of the deposits and bullshit that many of us recall and would rather do without.
Cox phone lines have far more capacity and options as well as the ability to add and delete MANY lines when needed and reroute them to where ever service is available much easier than dealing with US West.
The only draw back is that the service can't be switched for 2 months (which means 5 months). The good news is that when the switch is done the same phone number is used and is then totally removed from US West's stewardship, F'n A.
So. We publish the 602-375-0060 as the Party Phone Number, that same number gets moved to Cox when the time comes and then we have the option of being listed in directory assistance and the phone book if we want as anything we want. I'll hook up the computer to deal with the phone calls and start th process of contacting all of my firends and family and other business interest about what is going on and that they should use my other phone number (already started this about 4 months ago).
The cost of the line is $11.99 a month and $6.99 for each additional line.
The bottom line is this. For what I pay for the business line that I have with U.S. West now along with the forwarding charges of my line and the other phone # I have at home. I can get the party their number, two lines for me, Cable internet with 7 web page addresses, and digital TV cable with auto VCR programming with 23+ movie channels and have money left over.
I say this because this is the speech that Ray Price needs to make. The knowledge of the telecommunications industry and the efforts the Az. Corp. Comm. have made to delay and stop this type of competition should be exposed. I remember this exact type of campaign (the only one that I remember) in Texas in the early 80's ('82 I think). I think it was Hightower that was educating the public on just this type of Corp. Protection from competition. He got lots of press and the bad boys came at him big time and vote fraud was alledged etc. But i think he's now in congress or a U.S. Senator. He made a lot of points with the population and got a very big soap box.
