Subject: Fwd: FW: Stay for Amaya-Ruiz

I just sent you all an Urgent Action on an upcoming execution, only to continue reading my e/m's and find out he was given a stay. Oh well, at least you all know what is happening here in Arizona and that we continue to kill our citizens. Peace, Elizabeth

CAADP Action Alert List:

Jose Amaya-Ruiz' execution, scheduled for January 18, has been stayed. Our protest and vigil activities are therefore cancelled. We will keep you posted on further developments. Sorry for the delay in posting this, but my e-mail was down due to the move of my office.

Peace, Ann

We received a 23 page order from the District Court on Friday. The court held the Arizona Competency to be executed statute unconstitutional, granted our request for a stay, and set a status conference for Feb. 22.

I do not know if the State is going to appeal. If they do we will be filing in the Ninth Circuit next week. If not, the execution will be canceled.
